C.R. Anderson Middle School closed for at least a week due to lead contamination
Helena’s C.R. Anderson Middle School was abruptly closed Tuesday after test results brought up elevated lead levels in areas of the building.
The lead found in Montana's largest middle school likely comes from the school's old basement firing range, which administrators say has been closed for about 20 years.
The school’s website says out of caution the school will be closed for at least a week to undergo more intensive testing. At this point, administrators plan for school to resume next Tuesday, January 21st. No after school activities, meetings, practices or school-related weekend activities will be held until further notice.
A meeting for parent’s will be held Wednesday at 7 PM at the Capital High School Auditorium.
